Darkness therapy takes place in the village of Lomec near Úmonín, in the Kutná Hora district.
Darkness therapy by car
From Prague, the best route is the D11 motorway towards Hradec Králové, leaving at exit 39 for Kolín. Take the Kolín bypass and then road 38 towards Kutná Hora. From Kutná Hora, follow road 126 towards Zbraslavice. After 3 km turn left onto road 337 towards Křesetice, then turn left for Úmonín and continue 2 km along the main road to Lomec.
From Brno, leave the D1 motorway at exit 56 for Zruč nad Sázavou. Continue along road 126 and at Štipoklasy switch to road 339. Drive through Červené Janovice and after 3 km turn left for Lomeček, drive through it, and after another 1 km you reach Lomec.
From Hradec Králové and Pardubice, a good route is via Chrudim and Heřmanův Městec along road 17 as far as Čáslav. In Čáslav join road 339 and after 7 km turn right for Lomeček and Lomec.
Parking at our place is free.
Darkness therapy by bus (not at weekends)
Bus route 240024 Kutná Hora – Červené Janovice runs to Lomec 6 times a day. The stop is right on the village green, about 60 metres from our gate. You needn’t worry about your darkness therapy at all; the sanctuaries are 200 metres from the gate and surrounded by trees 🙂 At weekends, buses run to Kutná Hora and to Čáslav, about 10 km away.
Darkness therapy by train
The busy main railway station in Kutná Hora lies on the Prague – Brno line. The nearest railway stop to us is Bykáň, 6 km away on foot, which is about an hour’s walk through the village of Úmonín.
If you wish, we will pick you up by car from Kutná Hora, Čáslav or Bykáň.
A rough map of Lomec:
The entrance gate for your dark retreat is at GPS position 49.8678117N, 15.2862292E.
Dark retreat by train and on foot
Not only on summer days but even in winter, it is a lovely walk before your dark retreat begins.
If you take the train to Bykáň, where trains from Kutná Hora arrive at 15:30 and 17:30, you can enjoy a beautiful walk and savour that mix of apprehension and excitement about what the dark retreat will be like.
The route follows a field track past a straw stack, briefly through a small pine wood, and past the chateau in the village of Úmonín. Then it is 2 km along a country road of at least fourth class 🙂 to Lomec. You can view an interactive map with photos.
